If you’re considering using gas to heat your home, there are a number of great options available:

    • Natural gas flame fires provide warmth and atmosphere. It is important to choose one suitable for your room size.

  • Hot Water

    Hot Water

Generating and storing hot water to use in your home can account for a large portion of your home's energy costs, so saving money in this area could have a significant impact on your energy bills each month.

There’s a large range to choose from all with different capabilities so you can find the right one for your home. The two kinds of systems available are:

Continuous flow system – often referred to as ‘instant’ hot water systems, this type of heater provides immediate, continuous hot water that never runs out. The units themselves are small, to fit within confined spaces, and more modern units come with a control pad providing simple and convenient temperature control.

Storage hot water system – these systems heat water and keep it stored in an insulated tank ready for when you need it and come in a range of sizes to suit your needs.

All natural gas hot water units are designed for easy installation by licensed plumbers and gas fitters. To find a qualified plumber or gas fitter in your area visit the Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association website.

When you cook with natural gas, you can control the exact amount of heat delivered - no waiting for elements to heat up or cool down and you can actually see the blue flame.

If you’re building or renovating, consider natural gas appliances in your kitchen.

  • BBQs

    BBQs

Have you ever had a house full of friends and family, headed outside to turn on the BBQ and discovered your LPG bottle is empty? Why risk running out of gas when it’s possible to have a BBQ connected to the secure, reliable household natural gas supply, just like your cooktop - Meaning you’ll never be caught short again!

Natural gas-fuelled BBQs are becoming increasingly popular. Changing to a natural gas BBQ means you’ll always be cooking with gas.

If you want to switch to natural gas for your outdoor area you need to make sure your appliances are set up for natural gas. This is a simple change but needs to be done by a licensed gas fitter. To find one in your local area visit the Master Plumbers and Gasfitters Association website.

  • Air-conditioning

    Air-conditioning

Another way to effectively use gas within your home is with gas powered air conditioning.

Gas Powered Air Conditioning (GPAC) is similar to traditional electric systems with the difference being a small gas engine drives the outdoor compressor unit rather than an electric motor.

GPAC is available in reverse cycle allowing for both cooling and heating and can be a single unit mounted on the wall in an individual room or as a ducted system allowing you to temperature control your entire home, or zones within your home.

While GPAC might be a new concept for many of us in WA, the development of natural gas powered air conditioning was supported by the Japanese government in the early 1980s as a potential solution to Japan’s peak electricity problem. With WA facing similar issues right now, GPAC is definitely an option worth considering – particularly for builders and renovators.

GPAC is a proven and reliable technology with local service and installation expertise available in WA. Contact us to find out more.

  • Dryers

    Dryers

Much like an electric clothes dryer, natural gas dryers circulate hot air through tumbling clothes, soaking up moisture before passing through a lint trap and out via a vent.

Natural gas dryers are available in a range of sizes to suit your home and lifestyle.

  • Energy Ratings

    Energy Ratings

For natural gas appliances the energy rating label is a helpful guide to show you how energy efficient the appliance is and how much natural gas it uses each year.

The more stars an appliance has, the more efficient the appliance – which is better for your pocket and for the environment.

While the labelling of gas appliances is voluntary, the criteria are consistent, and ratings can help you make decisions around:

    • Domestic gas cooking appliances
    • Natural gas space (room) flued heaters
    • Natural gas water heaters
    • Natural gas clothes dryers
    • Domestic outdoor gas barbecues
